ZCL is currently recruiting for a **Lead Hand (2nd Shift)**to be based in our Edmonton, Alberta (**6907-36th Street**) manufacturing facility. If you are a motivated worker who wants to work for a respectful employer and be part of a supportive team, then ZCL is the place for you!
Reporting to the Production Manager, the Lead Hand is accountable for maintaining production and quality standards for the assigned shift through the coordination of production workers in the Assembly department. The incumbent will also be accountable for assembling single and double wall shells and domes and installing various components and accessories.
* Leading tank Assembly activities, verifying each step for accuracy and quality
* Periodically inspecting work to ensure compliance with quality standards - calibration readings, etc.
* Making minor adjustments or repairs to products as needed
* Implementing new processes, equipment and products
* Ensuring that non-conformances are reported and addressed to ensure improvement in the quality of products and service
* Touring the plant on a regular basis to monitor adherence to work rules, policies, and procedures
* Ensuring compliance with housekeeping program
* Providing information to the maintenance department to ensure optimal conditions of all equipment, and getting involved in repairs when no maintenance personnel are available
* Assisting with physical inventory count as delegated by the Plant Production Manager
* Working closely with the Plant Production Manager, engineers and manufacturing employees to look for ways to improve efficiency on the shop floor
* Providing leadership on floor projects to ensure they are completed within established timelines
* Providing advice and direction to employees on production matters
* Providing training to new hires to develop their skills
* Providing opportunities for individuals to develop skills
* Working with the Plant Production Manager to complete employee reviews
* Ensuring that Company Health, Safety and Security rules are followed
* Developing and demonstrating a positive health and safety attitude and working climate
* Providing training as required in the safe usage of equipment as well as safe work practices and procedures
* Issuing all production documents to the proper workstation and verifying each step for accuracy and quality
* Updating and reviewing hourly production boards
* Other activities as required to support the production process
* High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Minimum 3 years' supervisory experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
* Direct experience in a fiberglass reinforced plastic manufacturing facility or similar facility is preferred
* Strong production management and quality manufacturing skills
* Proficient in training, developing, and motivating employees
* Able to assess and contribute to the resolution of front line employee issues
* Good understanding of the English language including verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to read and follow blueprints and drawings
* Ability to work effectively with others and be part of a dynamic team
* Ability to learn new tools, equipment, and material used in above ground and underground storage tank manufacturing and assembly
* Ability to solve mathematical problems related to position
* Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment / with Lean principles is an asset
