This Project Quality Engineer is responsible for performing supplier-related activities
surrounding process control, APQP, and quality launches for new or modified
products, in order to support and fulfill the requirements of internal and
external customers, all while ensuring local adherence to global quality
objectives and corporate standards.
Facilitate change management process for supplier-related activities/changes.
Perform product launch activities (when applicable) for customer in accordance with
Monitor and support approval process through ENGIS of supplier PPAP's for Engineering
Changes (new and modified parts); communicate with plants, projects, and
customers as necessary.
Monitor supplier-rating system and provide input on appropriate corrective actions as
Work with Purchasing to select and develop suppliers through regular
assessment, planning meetings, APQP tools, and plant visitations.
Track ongoing supplier performance and efficiency through monthly Key
Performance Indicators (KPIs) in conjunction with the Corporate Supplier Group.
Perform initial problem investigation and containment activities at the
plant or program site for purchased direct materials.
Conducts periodic and special surveys of supplier facilities and
manufacturing process to determine adequacy and capability of quality control
and ability to comply with complete specifications.
Initiate supplier-related 8D's to resolve nonconformance, delivery,
warranty and/or other performance issues as necessary; communicate with the
relevant QE and/or supplier, and ensure timely closure and effectiveness.
Interface with Quality Engineers, inspectors, production associates,
and suppliers to resolve customer complaints resulting from supplier-related
Perform or direct the inspection of purchased direct materials as
needed; support processing and disposition of supplier non-conformances, and
initiate supplier charge backs to recover significant costs of quality
associated with poor supplier performance by utilizing SAP and other quality
tools as applicable.
Participate in APQP teams to launch new products in accordance with ZF
SQE Structure (i.e. supplier development as applicable, internal documentation,
supplier-related documentation, gaging requirements, including Run @ Rates,
PPAP runoffs, etc.).
Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to
